Conservation Biology Position

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks an outstanding scholar to fill a tenure track position in Conservation Biology at the assistant professor level in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. For this position, we invite applications from candidates working on any aspect of ecology or evolutionary biology relevant to the conservation of biodiversity, and particularly from applicants who include a field, or other empirical, component in their research program. We seek applicants whose interests complement the growing research strengths in conservation within our Department. Topics could include, for example, global change, invasion biology, drivers of biodiversity loss, spatial prioritization and reserve design, ecosystem services, conservation genetics, restoration ecology or conservation and behavior (including human behavior). The University is the State of Tennessee’s research intensive, land grant institution. Our faculty benefit from the wealth of nearby field resources (Great Smoky Mountains National Park, National Forests and natural areas), our extensive biodiversity collections, and rich collaborations with scientists at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis and nearby Oak Ridge National Lab. The EEB faculty is very interactive and has strong interdisciplinary connections on the campus (with economics, geography, mathematics, law, forestry, wildlife and fisheries, engineering and many other disciplines). We also have strong connections to relevant conservation practitioners and other stakeholder groups regionally, nationally and internationally.
