Evolutionary Biology

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks an outstanding scholar to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level. We invite applications from individuals with research interests at the cutting edge of any area of evolution.  Expectations for a successful candidate include a strong record of scientific accomplishment, an ability to develop a productive, externally funded research program, an ability to mentor students from diverse backgrounds, excellent communication skills, and application of effective teaching strategies. Knoxville is the flagship campus of the University of Tennessee and has a wealth of nearby resources including the Department’s biodiversity collections, the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis, nearby National Parks and Forests, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.  Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, statement of research accomplishment and plans, 3-4 exemplar publications, a description of teaching experiences and interests, and the names and contact information of at least three individuals who could write letters of reference at, Attn: Search Committee Chair. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent. Applications will be reviewed beginning Oct. 31, 2015, and will continue until filled, with an expected position start date of Aug. 2016.
