I have diverse interests in geographic, demographic, & ecological aspects of biodiversity conservation. I am particularly intrigued by rare and endangered species and biodiversity hotspots. Currently, I study benefits of local ballot initiatives for biodiversity conservation in California. I am also particularly interested in factors influencing the distributions and viability of tropical Orchids. My research involves field and laboratory work and makes use of empirical data from diverse field sites as well as from living and preserved collections. I employ geographic information systems (GIS) and ecologically oriented statistical models to analyze environmental threats & conservation strategies.
