What should I consider when thinking about graduate school?
The Career Basics booklet from AAAS has some helpful advice, as does this article from the Ecological Society of America.
How do I start the process?
Research potential faculty mentors and read their papers. Reach out to a potential EEB faculty mentor early (Sept./Oct.) to start a conversation about graduate projects/funding/questions. Talk to current members of the lab.
What is the status of my application?
The Office of Graduate Admissions will notify you by email of your application number. Please allow seven to ten business days to receive the notification after you have submitted your online application and fee. After you have received you application number, you can check the status of your application by following the instructions on the Graduate Admissions website. Keep in mind that EEB cannot evaluate your application until your application is complete.
How will I know the committee’s decision?
Once the EEB Admissions Committee has reviewed your application materials and made a decision, you will be notified in writing.
When is the admissions deadline?
The admissions deadline for EEB is December 1 each year. Please note that EEB’s departmental deadline is earlier than the deadlines published on the University Graduate Admissions website.
Do I need to take the GRE?
The GRE is not required for any applicants and is not considered by EEB’s Graduate Admissions committee.
What is the University of Tennessee’s institutional code for the standardized tests?
To have your scores sent to the University of Tennessee, use the institutional code 1843. Official reports of TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the testing agencies to the Graduate Admissions.
